Tell us about your role..
The Service Manager provides operational management to the national GIDS team. This includes overall responsibility for all admin staff and activities in the service and to provide business and strategic support to the GIDS Director working with others areas of the Trust including Finance, HR, ICT and Contracts.
My main base is the Tavistock in London. However, I regularly travel to Leeds to meet admin staff and attend meetings and my responsibilities extend to all areas of the service, including UCLH and LGI.
Where have you worked previously?
I have previously worked for Westminster PCT, Hammersmith and Fulham PCT and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in a variety of roles and settings. This is my first experience working in a Mental Health Trust, but I have worked here since May 2008.
What is the most important aspect of your week?
The most important aspect of my work is to ensure that all processes and procedures are in place and operating well in order to have a safe, well-functioning and supportive service that meets the needs of those who access it, whoever they may be and wherever they may come from.
I was an original staff member of the Service’s “Soup” / Stakeholder Group, although have since stepped down. However, I am still involved in service user engagement, by helping organise service users on interview panels, for example.
