Sarah Favier

Systemic Family Psychotherapist

Where else have you worked apart from at GIDS?

I worked in CAMHS for 13 years before starting at GIDS. For four years I was part of a team offering family therapy for young people who used self-harm. I also taught family therapy at university for three years. I also do some private family therapy. This means I talk with families about what is important to them, their strengths and things they are worried about. Different people in families often have different views and I want to listen to all perspectives.

Do you have any pets?

I have a spaniel who loves running around and paddling in streams. I also have a cat (who doesn’t like the dog) and likes sleeping and eating.

Do you have a favourite book or a favourite children's book?

When I was younger one of my favourite books was Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, my favourite children's authors at the moment are the Ahllbergs, Joan Aitken, David Walliams and Jeremy Strong.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

What I like best about working with GIDS is meeting children, young people and their families and hearing their stories. I often admire the thoughtfulness, humour and support young people and their families show. I like working in a team that cares about the people we see and tries hard to offer them a good service.
