Hear from other parents on the healthtalk.org website

healthtalk.org is a website where you can find out about what it’s like to live with various conditions, by watching other people share their stories.

The site has a large section on the experiences of parents and carers of young trans and gender diverse people.

Visit the healthtalk.org website

In this section you can find out about the experiences of parents and carers of trans and gender diverse young people by seeing and hearing them share their personal stories on film, audio and in text. Healthtalk.org talked to 20 people in England and Wales both in their homes and online.

Find out what people said about their child coming out as trans and socially transitioning, their experiences with GPs, CAMHS and school, being on the waiting list to gender identity service and experiences with the service, how they and their families felt about their child’s gender identity, support that was there for them, and where they looked for information about gender diversity and trans-specific healthcare.
